    Travel Information for Melfest at Fristadstorget and Melodifestivalen at Volvo CE Arena

    Eskilstuna is gearing up for an exciting weekend of music and festivities with Melfest at Fristadstorget and Melodifestivalen at Volvo CE Arena. Whether you’re planning to attend these events or just visiting the city center, here’s some essential travel information to help you navigate your way around.

    Public Transportation and Walking

    Fristadstorget and Volvo CE Arena (formerly known as Stiga Sports Arena) are within walking distance from the travel center and train station. The distance between Fristadstorget and the arena is approximately one kilometer.

    Bus Services

    • Line 6 runs to Munktellstaden every half hour during the day on Saturday.
    • Lines 1 and 2 stop near the Munktell area (at Munktellsgatan or Västergatan stops).
    • The last departure of Line 6 from Munktellstaden is at 20:52. After the evening show on Saturday, you can take Line 1 or 2 instead.

    Use Sörmlandstrafiken’s travel planner to plan your journey.

    Train Services

    There’s no seat reservation on Mälartågen to Eskilstuna, so trains closest to show times may be crowded. Consider choosing an earlier departure. Visit Mälartåg’s website for more information and train schedules.

    Driving and Parking

    Please note the following traffic changes:

    • Verkstadsgatan will be temporarily one-way from Friday, February 23rd at 12:00 PM until Sunday, February 25th.
    • Traktorgatan will also be one-way; follow temporary signage.
    • The parking area behind the arena will be closed from Monday, February 19th to Sunday, February 25th.

    Parking Options

    For Melfest at Fristadstorget, the bus station parking is a good option.

    For Melodifestivalen at Volvo CE Arena, you can park at:

    • Munktellgaraget
    • The parking area behind Willys/Filmstaden
    • Strömsholmen
    • The parking lot and parking garage on Rademachergatan

    Plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience at these exciting events in Eskilstuna!
