Golf’s Swedish Championship Week Creates Value for Dalarna’s Tourism Industry
One of Sweden’s largest and oldest golf events, which annually attracts up to 2,000 golfers, will take place in Dalarna from June 28 to July 6. This presents an opportunity for Dalarna’s golf clubs and the entire region to welcome new visitors.
“Events are an important motor for the tourism industry in Dalarna, and golf is a strong travel motivation. We view positively the collaboration between the Swedish Golf Federation, Dalarna Golf Federation, and Visit Dalarna, which gives us the opportunity to welcome visitors to the entire Dalarna during a summer week,” says Chatarina Eriksson, CEO of Visit Dalarna.
Tournament Details
Registration for tournament participation during Golf’s Swedish Championship Week is now open. The event rotates between different golf districts annually, with Dalarna previously hosting the championships in 2013. Competitions will be held on 12 of the 19 courses affiliated with the Dalarna Golf Federation.
“In Dalarna, we have a wide range of golf courses offering varied experiences, from stunning mountain views to forest and park courses,” says Marlene Sandberg Andersson, Chair of the Dalarna Golf Federation.
Competition Overview
Tournaments will be played in 20 different classes, including both team and individual competitions. Most individual classes are also part of the SGF Senior Tour, the Swedish Golf Federation’s national tour for men and women in various age categories.
A new addition this year is a par 3 competition to be held at the urban Samuelsdals Golf Club in Falun.

Tourism Impact
“Golf’s Swedish Championship Week is an excellent opportunity to showcase Dalarna’s golf courses, provide accommodation tips, and offer inspiration. We naturally want players and their families to return to play more golf and experience Dalarna’s range of destinations and activities, both on and off the golf course,” explains Chatarina Eriksson.
