Sports Announced for SM-veckan Winter 2025 in Borås

Borås is set to host the SM-veckan (Swedish Championship Week) Winter 2025 from February 3-9, marking its first time hosting the winter edition of this prestigious event. The city previously hosted the summer version in 2014 and 2017, making this the southernmost winter SM-veckan to date.

New and Returning Sports

The lineup for SM-veckan Winter 2025 includes an exciting mix of new and traditional sports:

• Dart makes its debut at SM-veckan
• Water polo and mini-golf, typically summer sports, join the winter program
• Badminton, indoor rowing, and tug of war return to the championship
• Paralympic sports such as boccia and para cross-country skiing are featured
• Arm wrestling, bench press, and simulator golf include para-classes

Venue and Activities

Competitions will take place across various locations in Borås, including:

• Knalleland sports area
• Borås ski stadium
• Boråshallen

In addition to the competitions, visitors will have the opportunity to discover new sports and try exciting activities themselves.

Organizers’ Perspectives

Christian Bergström, project manager for SM-veckan at the Swedish Sports Confederation, stated: “It feels good that we can come back to Borås again after SM-veckan had to be canceled during the pandemic. Thanks to so many sports applying and wanting to participate, we can present an exciting mix of sports for SM-veckan in Borås with something for everyone.”

Martina Lindberg, local project manager for SM-veckan in Borås, added: “We are very proud that so many sports want to organize their Swedish championships during SM-veckan in Borås. We look forward to showcasing Borås as the fantastic sports city we are, and we will do our utmost to create an inspiring and fun event for both competitors and spectators, on-site and through the TV screen. It’s also extra fun that several sports that should have been included in 2021 now get a new chance while some are completely new to SM-veckan.”
