    New Leadership for Öland’s Tourism

    Johan Rustan has officially started as the new CEO of Öland’s tourism organization on February 1st. With his extensive experience, Johan aims to build stronger relationships with local businesses and develop Öland’s tourism industry. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration, stating:

    “We must meet if we are to build relationships. It’s important that we do the job together.”

    From Association to Corporation

    Öland’s tourism organization has transitioned from a municipal association to a corporation. This change allows for more business-oriented operations while maintaining the goal of making Öland an attractive destination for visitors and residents alike.

    Upcoming Events

    • Swedish school winter breaks (sportlov) are underway, with activities for families throughout February
    • Partner & Business Breakfast on March 15th, featuring a trend report from Placebrander
    • Conference on Mittlandet (Öland’s unique central region) on March 14th at Ekerum Resort
    • Öland Gala returning to its original format on April 20th at Strand Hotel

    Initiatives for Cyclists

    Öland is enhancing its appeal to cyclists, especially during spring and autumn. Accommodations can now apply to be listed as “cycle-friendly” on oland.se by meeting specific criteria.

    30 Years of Öland’s Harvest Festival

    A new documentary, “The Hunt for Sweden’s Provence,” celebrates the 30-year history of Öland’s famous Harvest Festival, showcasing how it transformed the island’s tourism landscape.
