Umeå Hosts National Restaurant Industry Future Forum in 2025
On March 17th, the restaurant industry will gather in Umeå for the annual Summit of Framtidens Krogkultur – a forum focusing on sustainable leadership across high and low seasons. This year’s theme specifically highlights challenges for restaurant owners in smaller cities, rural areas, and tourist destinations.
Summit Highlights and Goals
“The restaurant industry faces significant challenges in creating safe and gender-equal workplaces. By organizing the Summit here in Umeå, where we have both the Restaurant High School, Umeå University, and a prominent restaurant scene, we want to both gain and spread important perspectives and solutions,” says Elvira Lindqvist, chef and chair of Framtidens Krogkultur.
The program, taking place at Blå Huset, is packed with lectures, panel discussions, and workshops. The primary focus is strengthening leadership and personnel development – crucial areas for the industry’s skills provision. Summit 2025 also aims to create connections between young professionals entering the restaurant industry and established restaurateurs, businesses, producers, and educational providers.
Exclusive Guest Chef Event
On Saturday, March 15th, an exclusive guest chef event will be held at P5 in Kulturhuset Väven. Six of Sweden’s top chefs will collaborate with Gotthards Krog to create a unique menu using Nordic ingredients. The participating chefs include:

- Linnea Liljedahl – Linnea & Peter
- Elvira Lindqvist – Local Gastronomy Project Manager, Dalarna

Framtidens Krogkultur is a non-profit association founded in 2022, working towards creating an equal, safe, and attractive restaurant industry, with a focus on leadership, education, and work culture.
