Sweden’s Largest Olympic Days Coming to Eskilstuna
Eskilstuna is set to host Sweden’s largest Olympic Days event from May 30 to June 1, 2024. This exciting initiative by the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) aims to bring together children, local sports clubs, and Olympic athletes in a festive atmosphere.
A First for Eskilstuna
For the first time, Eskilstuna’s Stadsparken (City Park) will be transformed into an Olympic arena. Over 3,000 school children have been invited to participate in the first two days of the event. They will have the opportunity to try more than 20 different sports, ranging from ball games and gymnastics to sailing on the Eskilstuna River.
Jessica Lindell Vikarby, project manager at SOK, explains: “The idea is to bring together children, youth, and local sports clubs in a relaxed, joyful setting. At the same time, Olympians contribute with inspiration.”
Public Day and Festival Atmosphere
On June 1, the Olympic Day will be open to the public, featuring a festival atmosphere complete with a circus school. Olympic athletes will be present to answer questions and challenge children in various sports.
Micke Lönngren, event manager at Destination Eskilstuna, states: “We’re aiming high and inviting a record number of school children on May 30-31. But our ambition is also to break records on Saturday when the public is welcomed. It will be a real public festival.”
