As Eskilstuna prepares to host thousands of visitors for the Folk och Kultur event from February 5-8, 2025, the city is calling on its residents to open their homes and follow the example of Sofie Andersson, a local Airbnb “Superhost”.

Sofie Andersson: A Shining Example of Local Hospitality

Sofie Andersson, an Airbnb host and “Superhost,” was recently nominated for the Proud Hospitality award for her commitment to welcoming visitors. Her enthusiasm for showcasing the best of Eskilstuna makes her a prime example of how local hospitality can make a real difference for the city.

“As an Airbnb host, I get to meet people from all over the world and show them the best that Eskilstuna has to offer. It makes me proud and happy. Of course, you get extra happy when it’s recognized like this,” says Sofie.

Folk och Kultur 2025: A Call for Local Support

Folk och Kultur, one of the largest cultural policy forums in the Nordic region, will once again bring thousands of visitors to Eskilstuna. To ensure accommodation for all attendees, the city is urging residents to follow Sofie’s example and open their homes.

“We see that hotel capacity is not sufficient during these days, so it’s incredibly important that residents get involved and contribute by renting out homes, cabins, or just a few extra beds,” says Marie Svensson, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Board.

“Folk och Kultur visitors prefer to stay in the same city as the event, and ideally within walking distance of Munktellstaden or with good transportation links,” says Ismo Railisson, project manager for Folk och Kultur.

By opening their homes, even for just a few days, Eskilstuna residents can contribute to the event’s success and help ensure it remains an important cultural meeting place in the Nordic region.
