Eskilstuna to Host Swedish Swimming Championships 2025

Eskilstuna and Eskilstuna Swimming Club will host the Swedish Swimming Championships for the second time from December 10-14, 2025, at Munktellbadet. The last time the club organized a Swedish Championship was in 2019.

“It feels very exciting and honorable to receive the trust from the Swedish Swimming Federation to organize the Swedish Championships again, and also to have strong support from Destination Eskilstuna. This is an extensive and fun project,” says Christoffer Andersson, operations and event manager at Eskilstuna Swimming Club.

Eskilstuna Swimming Club is a frequent championship organizer, with this event being the seventh Swedish Championship to be held at Munktellbadet. In addition to the 2019 Swedish Championships, the club has organized Youth Championships, Para Championships, and Masters Championships on three occasions.

A Major Event for Eskilstuna

Destination Eskilstuna is also excited about the upcoming event. Micke Lönngren, event manager at Destination Eskilstuna, states:

“The Swedish Swimming Championships is one of the biggest events held in Eskilstuna and follows our strategic plan for events. Since we hosted the 2019 Championships, we have maintained close contact with both the Swimming Federation and Eskilstuna Swimming Club to explore the possibilities of hosting again. Welcoming Sweden’s best athletes in such a popular sport as swimming to Eskilstuna is incredibly inspiring. We expect many visitors to the city and for Eskilstuna residents to experience top-class sports.”

Five Days of Swimming Excellence

The championships will feature preliminary rounds in the mornings and finals in the evening sessions. Many are wondering if Sweden’s superstar Sarah Sjöström will be present.

“It would be fantastic if she came here to compete. It would undoubtedly elevate the entire championship. We hope that Sarah, along with several other national team swimmers, will be here to showcase swimming at the highest level,” says Christoffer.

This event promises to bring top-tier swimming competition to Eskilstuna, attracting visitors and showcasing the city’s capabilities in hosting major sporting events.
