Legendary Band Returns to Linköping After 50 Years
Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, the iconic rock group, is set to make a triumphant return to Linköping on February 8th at the Linköping Konsert & Kongress. This performance marks a significant milestone, coming 50 years after their memorable show at Katedralskolan in Linköping.
A Musical Legacy Spanning Six Decades
Keyboard virtuoso Manfred Mann, born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1940, has been a prominent figure in the British music scene since 1962. His initial band, simply called Manfred Mann, achieved more hits in England than The Beatles during the 1960s.
In 1971, Mann formed Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, steering towards a more progressive rock sound. The band became known for their innovative covers, including their hit version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Blinded by the Light”. Their repertoire includes numerous chart-toppers such as “Do Wah Diddy Diddy”, “Sha La La”, and “The Mighty Quinn”.
A Rare Swedish Performance
Anders Thorén, event manager at Visit Linköping & Co, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming concert:
“The band is doing a few performances in Sweden and that’s why it’s extra fun to welcome them to Linköping. We expect great interest from the audience.”
