Meeting and Event Ambassadors Honored at Örebro Castle
The meeting and event industry in Örebro experienced a strong rebound after the pandemic, contributing to 2022 becoming one of the best years ever for tourism in the city. Now, Örebrokompaniet aims to recognize those who made it happen.
In collaboration with County Governor Lena Rådström Baastad, over 80 meeting and event ambassadors have been invited to a lunch and diploma ceremony at Örebro Castle on Friday, June 16th.
Despite a challenging first quarter due to the pandemic, 2022 proved highly successful for the tourism industry. Numerous congresses and major events helped Örebro reclaim its position as one of Sweden’s leading meeting and event destinations.
“Congresses and events are important for Örebro for many reasons. The people behind them deserve both attention and thanks for their efforts,” says Pernilla Körberg Törnqvist, head of meetings and events at Örebrokompaniet.
For several years, Örebrokompaniet and the County Governor have honored Örebro’s meeting ambassadors at an annual gathering. This year, the invitee list has been expanded to include event organizers as well.
The criteria for invitation include local hosting of national or international meetings or events with primarily incoming guests. For meetings, at least 100 participants are required for national events, while international meetings have no minimum attendance requirement. Events should either stand out and strengthen the city’s brand or attract over 3,000 visitors.
84 people will attend the lunch at the castle, with 49 from the meeting industry and 23 from the events sector. All attendees will receive a diploma. Leading representatives from the municipality and region will also be present.
The invitation list showcases a wide range of events, including major public exhibitions like Open Art, large-scale sports events such as Örebrocupen and Tiomila orienteering, political congresses, university and hospital conferences, and business-oriented meetings.
