September: A Culinary Month in Östersund

Östersund, the Creative City of Gastronomy, invites both residents and visitors to a month-long celebration of culinary delights. This September, the city is hosting a variety of events showcasing both local and international flavors.

    International Food Market

The festivities kick off on September 4th with the International Food Market at Stortorget Östersund. This year’s market is bigger than ever, featuring delicacies and food culture from over 23 nations across 40 food stalls.

    Harvest Festival

On September 7-8, the Jämtland Härjedalen Harvest Festival opens its doors to visitors. Around 30 farms will welcome guests for farm-based activities and local produce shopping. New this year is a guided bus tour to selected farms, organized by MidScandinavia Tours.

    Jämtlandsgången

The popular Jämtlandsgången returns on September 7th. This food walk takes participants to five selected restaurants in central Östersund, focusing on locally produced gastronomy. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet some of Jämtland’s breweries.

    Brewery Walk

For beer enthusiasts, a Brewery Walk is scheduled for September 13-14. AktivUt arranges a guided tour on foot and by train to Östersund breweries, Revsunds Brewery, and Bakgården.

    Afternoon Tea

On September 13th, Hamngatan12 invites guests for Afternoon Tea, featuring freshly baked scones, canapés, and pastries.

    Food Mile

The culinary experiences continue on September 21st with the Food Mile, a flavorful walk through Östersund where participants can sample selected delicacies from the city’s restaurants.

    Eco Festival

The month concludes with the Eco Festival on September 26th at Stortorget, focusing on organic products and beverages.
