Östersund Bike Festival Returns with an Impressive Program
From Sunday, June 23rd to Sunday, June 30th, Östersund will be buzzing with cycling activities of all kinds. The Östersund Bike Festival, a collaborative event between Destination Östersund and various local cycling clubs and enthusiasts, is making its comeback after a successful debut in 2023.
The festival kicks off with a guided midnight ride through the Fugelsta forests, setting the tone for a week filled with diverse cycling experiences. Attendees can look forward to gravel cycling, an enduro introduction for women, family cycling events, bike orienteering, and after-bike socials.
Two competitive events are also on the schedule:
- The first leg of the Scandinavian Pump Track Series in Brunflo on Saturday
- The third stage of the SweCup in Enduro around Gustavsbergsbacken on Sunday
In total, over 30 activities are packed into the Östersund Bike Festival program.
“The purpose of Östersund Bike Festival is to showcase Östersund as a cycling destination for all types of cycling, and together we have managed to fill the week with everything imaginable. There is so much great activity, many committed people and arenas, and now we want to show it off to both locals and visitors. I really want to encourage those who are curious to try it out, now is the chance,” says Rasmus Nordmark, project manager at Destination Östersund.
Local Clubs’ Involvement
Östersund’s Cycling Club (ÖCK) is one of the volunteer groups contributing to the festival’s program, offering at least one activity per day. Adam Norgren from ÖCK states:
“We in Östersund’s cycling club think this week is particularly fun, and with our engagements, we want to open up the cycling community here in town. This is a fantastic opportunity for us as a club to show our breadth and that cycling with a club is not as elitist as many think. But also for the city’s cyclists who are offered to join all the events that interest them. A bit like a festival.”
Family-Friendly Events
On Wednesday, June 26th, Frösö IF Cykel invites families to cycle at the new XCO track at Frösö Park. Christer Hillörn from Frösö IF says:
“We look forward to showcasing all the fantastic mountain biking that Frösön has to offer for both children and adults.”
