Winners of the Golden Wing Award for Best Company and Best Employer in Tourism
On Tuesday evening, the prestigious Golden Wing award was presented to outstanding companies in Dalarna’s tourism industry at a festive ceremony held at the First Hotel Grand in Falun. Green Hotel claimed the title of Tourism Company of the Year, while Vasaloppet was recognized as Employer of the Year in the tourism sector.
Katrin Strandell, representing the jury, commented: “Both Green Hotel and Vasaloppet are incredibly important players in Dalarna’s tourism industry and two strong brands that contribute to Dalarna as a tourist destination through their history, commitment to the place, and local involvement.”
Tourism Company of the Year: Green Hotel
The jury’s motivation: “Green Hotel has been a meeting place for celebrities and life enthusiasts since 1947, hosting countless events. By truly listening to customers and fully committing to their beliefs, Green Hotel has developed products that align with international guests’ desires. They have successfully reflected authentic Dalarna, local craftsmanship, and collaborated with other activity organizers, creating value for many.”
Anna Wiklund, hotel manager at Green Hotel, stated: “We believe in collaboration and that together we must promote Dalarna as a destination. We notice that many of our guests return year after year to experience the food, nature, culture, our history and the genuine atmosphere. We are a strong team that always wants to exceed the guest’s expectations, and especially the international guest is fascinated by the environment, the view and the family atmosphere. For example, baking bread in our bakery with our guests is very much appreciated.”
Employer of the Year: Vasaloppet
The jury’s motivation: “Vasaloppet has made an impressive transformation journey. Together with their employees, they have succeeded in creating a series of different races and made Vasaloppet a popular year-round product. In addition to working systematically with permanent staff, they manage hundreds of volunteers during event weeks and collaborate with companies, associations, and schools. Being part of Vasaloppet is something to be proud of.”
Johan Eriksson, CEO of Vasaloppet, commented: “Fundamentally, it’s about balancing innovation and tradition, both in terms of our offerings and how we carry out our work with volunteers and staff. We have extensive experience in events, but we need to constantly keep ourselves current in digital development.”
