Halland Municipalities Receive Funding for Sustainable Tourism Development
In an exciting development for tourism in Halland, all municipalities in the region have been awarded funding for sustainable destination development projects. The Region Halland Growth Committee has distributed 2.75 million SEK out of a total budget of 4.2 million SEK among the municipalities.
“We have received many exciting applications, and it’s encouraging that all Halland municipalities are investing in sustainable destination development and sharing the funds,” says Ellinor Huisman, strategist at Visit Halland.
To facilitate long-term and sustainable initiatives, municipalities can now apply for project funding for up to three years. This change allows for more ambitious and comprehensive development projects, crucial for making Halland an attractive year-round destination.
Three-Year Projects
- Woods of Halland – Hylte will develop a place branding concept
- World-Class Hospitality – Falkenberg aims to create ambassadors to make the municipality an attractive place to work and visit
- Kattegattleden – Nature Luxury for Families – Kungsbacka will develop its part of the Kattegattleden for cycling families
Other Funded Projects for 2023
- Laholm: Lagaholm and surroundings
- Halmstad: Sustainable development of Destination Grötvik, Development of Prince Bertil’s Path and Tylösand hub
- Falkenberg: Nature Curious, Mobile Sauna
- Varberg: Shiver and Cozy
All projects must sustainably create and develop experiences, attractions, and places that make Halland an attractive year-round destination. They must meet criteria such as season extension, sustainability, and international appeal. Municipalities are required to co-finance at least 50 percent of the project costs.
