Record-Breaking Year for Wrestling Tournament in Umeå
The annual Umeå Wrestling Battle, one of Sweden’s largest wrestling competitions, is set to take place from October 11-13. This year’s event is breaking all records with an unprecedented number of participants from around the world.
“This year we’re breaking all records in the number of registered wrestlers with 694 participants from 97 clubs, 3 continents, and 12 countries. It’s an incredible range, from national team wrestlers to 7-year-old beginners and sharp seniors. It’s incredibly exciting,” says Samuel Eriksson, organizer at Umeå Wrestling.
The Umeå Wrestling Battle, held at the Umeå Energi Arena, is not only one of the largest wrestling competitions in the Nordic countries but also attracts the most international participants in Sweden. Samuel Eriksson attributes this success to their strong focus on hospitality.
“Our work stands out compared to other competitions in the country. We take care of the participants from arrival and throughout their stay. Among other things, we have a bus that meets all the participants when they arrive in Umeå, and we offer additional activities for them to experience Umeå in the best way. In the past, we’ve had snowmobile rides in the winters and trips to the sea in the summers. The hospitality work makes an impression and gives us wrestling friends all over the world who recommend Umeå to others,” concludes Samuel Eriksson, organizer at Umeå Wrestling.
This event not only showcases top-tier wrestling talent but also promotes Umeå as a destination, bringing together sports enthusiasts and tourists from various parts of the world. The organizers’ commitment to providing a comprehensive experience for participants has clearly paid off, as evidenced by the record-breaking attendance this year.
