Skövde’s Fairy of Light Returns to Illuminate the City’s Christmas Magic
On Friday, November 29th, the magical “Fairy of Light” will return to Skövde, bringing enchantment and festive illumination to the city’s streets and squares.
A Beloved Winter Tradition
The annual “City in Light” event promises to transform Skövde into a magical winter wonderland. During this special evening, the Fairy of Light will travel by horse and carriage, using her magical wand to light up various installations around Hertig Johans Square, Church Park, and Cultural House Square.
“For many Skövde residents, ‘City in Light’ marks the true start of Christmas. When it’s darkest, our own Fairy of Light brings light and cozy atmosphere to the city,” says Katarina Blad, project manager for ‘City in Light’ at Next Skövde.
Event Highlights
Festive Program
- 17:20 – Free glögg and gingerbread at Hertig Johans Square
- Church choirs will spread holiday cheer
- 18:00 – Fairy of Light lights up city installations
- 18:30 – Closing fire show “The Stolen Star” by Aurora
Special Attractions
A light walk will be available in the Skövde Streetmuseum app, showcasing all light installations. Children in costumes receive a special gift, and the event offers a magical Meet & Greet with the Fairy of Light.
