Läckö Castle Named “Tourism Company of the Year”
Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle’s board of directors has awarded Läckö Castle the prestigious “Tourism Company of the Year” title for 2023. This annual award recognizes outstanding contributions to the tourism industry in the Lidköping and Götene municipalities.
The award aims to highlight entrepreneurship in tourism, reward businesses that have increased visitor numbers, and inspire more people to start tourism-related ventures. Recipients contribute to Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle’s strategies for sustainable tourism development by being excellent ambassadors for the industry and helping create an attractive year-round destination for both residents and visitors.
A delegation from Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle, including CEO Anna Ohlin Ek and board members, surprised the staff at Läckö Castle to present the award. Jan Malmgren, CEO of Läckö Castle, expressed his excitement:
“What a surprise, it feels really great to receive this award! It’s especially nice that our increasing efforts to develop new partnerships are being recognized, which is very important to us. A big thank you to my amazing colleagues who make it possible to carry out all our activities and offer the wonderful program we have throughout the year.”
The award citation praises Läckö Castle for its multifaceted operations that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Beyond the castle itself, the foundation has created a “destination within a destination” featuring the Naturum Victoriahuset nature center, hotel, guest harbor, and campsite. The castle also serves as a dynamic event venue for both in-house productions and external organizers.
Läckö Castle’s significance extends to the entire region’s tourism industry, fostering business development. In 2023, they welcomed back the Hvita Hjorten restaurant and saw the opening of Café Trulsson. The organization actively contributes to the destination’s overall growth, as evidenced by their work on sustainable transportation and the development of hiking and cycling trails.
The past year at Läckö has been filled with magical experiences, from major events featuring Benjamin Ingrosso and the opera Macbeth to a wide range of exhibitions, culinary adventures, lectures, and family activities at the castle, Naturum, and surrounding attractions.
This recognition highlights Läckö Castle’s role as a key driver of year-round tourism in the Läckö-Kinnekulle region.
