Autumn Tour on Kinnekulle: Experience Late Summer’s Warmth and Fall’s First Colors
As summer transitions to autumn, the Höstrundan Kinnekulle (Autumn Tour on Kinnekulle) offers the perfect opportunity to witness nature’s transformation. On September 7-8, over 50 local businesses and attractions will open their doors to visitors, showcasing the best of what this Swedish region has to offer.
Culinary Delights and Outdoor Cooking
The tour features cozy stops at local farm shops and cafes where you can savor the season’s harvest – fresh vegetables, freshly baked treats, and rich apple cider. Food enthusiasts will appreciate the garden market in Husaby on Saturday, featuring several local food producers. On Sunday, Husaby’s heritage center will host a qualifying round for the Swedish Outdoor Cooking Championship.
Autumn’s Bounty at Sunträlje
At Sunträlje Pumpkins and Flowers, autumn’s treasures are in full bloom. Visitors will be greeted by a colorful array of pumpkins in various shapes and colors – from traditional bright orange to elegant white, green, and even deep red varieties. In addition to pumpkins, beautiful autumn bouquets and handmade wreaths created from the season’s finest flowers and plants are also available.
Art and Creativity
Several artists will open their studios to the public. At Kollängen courthouse, artists Edna Cers, Bengt Winerg, Lindali Winberg, and Malin Lidén will present their exhibition “Three Generations – Four Lives.” The Tobo and Kinnekulle artists’ guild will showcase their acrylic and watercolor works at Falkängen’s gallery.
This year, Blåeld Music and KLIV Theater celebrate 40 years of passion, creativity, and unforgettable performances in Kinnekulle and the surrounding area. To commemorate this jubilee, the historic Västerplana Dairy has been filled with memorabilia, including props, costumes, photos, newspaper clippings, art, and stories about grand musical theater productions and touring performances around Sweden.
Sculpture and Storytelling
The Autumn Tour on Kinnekulle also offers the last chance to see this year’s sculptures at Sculpture Park Ouroboros at Smedja Therese. Here, Hörsägen Storytellers will present children’s theater focusing on heroes and monsters.
Geological Significance
The Great Quarry on Kinnekulle has been designated as one of the world’s most important geological sites. It is one of 100 geological heritage sites globally that are of great importance for the development of geological science and understanding of Earth’s history. Visitors are encouraged to explore the quarry and learn more about Kinnekulle’s geology at LR Minerals Sweden’s stone shop.
