Spooky Walk in the City Park – New Activity for Youth in Borås
On the evening of November 1st, parts of the City Park in Borås will transform into a frightening place. Youths aged 12-17 are invited to participate in a scary walk through the park and into a specially opened underground shelter. Along the way, terrifying creatures will emerge from the shadows.
“Not just a walk in the park” is a brand new event organized by Borås City and Borås TME to encourage more young people to gather in the city center.
“Events for young people were a request from Borås residents in our Dream of Borås survey about the city center. The scary walk is our response to that request, an event created entirely for young people. It won’t be cozy spooky with cute ghosts, but rather a different level, hence the age limit. But of course, in addition to scary creatures, there will be safe adults in the park,” says Anna Liljenby, Borås TME.
The walk will be conducted in small groups guided by adults through the City Park. Along the way, costumed actors will appear to frighten participants. To create an extra scary experience, the walk goes through an area usually closed to the public – the empty underground shelter beneath Mariekulle.
The event will also feature a gathering place with music and dance performances. A DJ will provide atmospheric music, and zombies will take over the dance floor.
“By offering a free event, we hope for many new meetings between young people in the city center. Our hope is that this becomes an annual event that contributes to making the city center a natural meeting place for young people,” says Anna Liljenby, Borås TME.
