No Limit® Celebrates 10 Years and Attracts Street Art Elite to Borås

No Limit®, the renowned street art festival in Borås, Sweden, is marking its 10th anniversary by bringing together some of the most famous graffiti and street artists. The celebration includes a competition and graffiti jam on September 7-8 at Magasinsgatan 8, featuring notable artists like Ollio, Olust, Gouge, and Max Gustafsson.

The event has garnered significant attention, with over a hundred applications narrowed down to forty selected participants. Organized by Borås TME, Magasinsgatan 8, and Joel Hjort (known as the graffiti artist Punta), the competition and graffiti jam promise to be a spectacular showcase of urban art.

“It’s fantastic to see such great interest! Among the competitors are several big names like Ollio, Olust, and Crips. During the weekend’s graffiti jam, artists such as Max Gustafsson, Gouge, and Konstnizze will also participate,” says Joel Hjort.

    Competition and Jury

A jury will judge the works created during the competition, with the winner receiving a prize of 25,000 SEK. The jury consists of:

    • Mikael Nyström, one of Sweden’s most prominent graffiti artists
    • Tobias Berhentin Lindblad, author and editor at Dokument Press, specializing in urban culture
    • Joel Hjort, graffiti artist and mural painter, who also works as a youth leader
    • Samar Jabri, cultural secretary at Borås City who has worked extensively with urban culture, especially within various hip-hop elements
    • Johanna Dahlberg, mural artist known for her large-scale works

    Activities for Visitors

In addition to the competition and graffiti jam, visitors can:

    • Try graffiti on the Open Wall
    • Enjoy music from DJs
    • Purchase refreshments and burgers
    • Participate in art activities hosted by Navet Science Center
    • Take self-guided tours using the Hej Borås app
    • Join one of three guided No Limit® tours

“We have created a guided tour showcasing the works in Norrby created during No Limit® 2020. We have also developed a special tour that displays a large selection of all works from No Limit® over the years. The latter tour takes about four hours and includes refreshments, a special experience to celebrate the 10th anniversary,” says Marita Curran, project manager at Borås TME.

Borås Art Biennal and NUAN Conference

Coinciding with the No Limit® celebration, the Borås Art Biennal is taking place, with Borås Konstmuseum hosting the NUAN conference (National Urban Art Network) on September 6-7. The conference will feature lectures, discussions, and activities exploring how the perception of graffiti and street art has evolved from zero tolerance to a more public administration of urban art.
