    Collaboration Illuminates Skellefteå City Center

This winter, Skellefteå’s city center will be adorned with a new and much-anticipated winter lighting display. Through a collaborative effort between businesses, property owners, Skellefteå Municipality, and Visit Skellefteå, eight trees along Nygatan, near Åhléns and CK-huset, will be illuminated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere during the cold months.

The tree lighting has been a cherished part of the cityscape in the past. However, when the light strings grew into the trees, they had to be removed. Now they’re back with a new, adapted design that allows the strings to expand as the trees grow, increasing their longevity.

A Joint Effort for a More Attractive Skellefteå

This initiative has become a reality thanks to collaboration between various stakeholders. Diös, Nordvestor Fastigheter, Skebo, Mannbergs Fastigheter, LF Västerbotten, Skellefteå Kraft, Society Expo, and Visit Skellefteå are funding the purchase of the lighting, while Skellefteå Municipality is responsible for installation and maintenance.

This joint effort reflects the ambition to create an even more vibrant and attractive city center through increased cooperation, contributing to the goal of becoming Sweden’s City Center of the Year in 2026.

    Inauguration on November 8

Everyone is warmly invited to the inauguration of the new winter lighting on Friday, November 8, at 4:00 PM. It will be an atmospheric hour filled with music, a fire show, competitions, and more. Welcome to celebrate the start of the winter season in Skellefteå city center!

This new lighting complements Skellefteå’s other winter illuminations, which brighten up Nygatan, Stadsparken, Guldtorget, and Saraplatsen, as well as installations at Citykompaniet and Vintergatan.
