Botulfsplatsen Celebrates Eurovision Song Contest in Glittering Style
As Eurovision Song Contest comes to Malmö in May, Lund is joining the celebration. Botulfsplatsen square will be transformed into a festive hub, bringing the Eurovision spirit to Lund alongside the main event in our neighboring city.
“It will be a week-long Eurovision celebration at Botulfsplatsen. It’s both a way to invite Lund residents to participate in the festivities and a way to continue testing how we can use our newest square,” says Sebastian Jaktling (S), chairman of the Culture and Leisure Committee in Lund Municipality.
Highlights of the Celebration
- Live screenings of semifinals on May 7 and 9 on a large screen
- Fun Eurovision-themed activities throughout the week
- Grand finale on Saturday, May 11, with a packed program from lunch to midnight
- Extended opening hours for shops and businesses in central Lund
Åsa Jensen, project manager at Visit Lund, emphasizes the inclusive nature of the event:
“It’s exciting that we can offer such a varied program that partly suits children and families during the day and early evening, but also groups of friends and students who can gather here during the later hours. The collaboration with various actors in the city who are organizing theme-related activities, from Gerdahallen and Eos, to Sing Sing and Lundapride, will give us a nice ‘everyone-is-welcome’ feeling and a festive prelude to Saturday’s final.”
