Open Innovation Challenge 2024: Linnéuniversitet Students Tackle Sustainable Event Solutions
On November 21-22, thirty creative students from Linnéuniversitet will participate in the Open Innovation Challenge 2024, an annual innovation competition designed to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and problem-solving skills.
The Challenge: Sustainable Digital Goodie Bags
This year’s theme focuses on sustainable events, with students challenged to create an innovative digital goodie bag that offers sustainable opportunities from Kalmar’s business community.

Competition Objectives
As Marcus Larsson, Head of Events and Meetings at Destination Kalmar, explains: “When students from different educational backgrounds meet, truly exceptional ideas emerge. We are confident we will receive creative thoughts and solutions that will be valuable for our future work.”
Key Goals:
- Create a digital alternative to physical discount booklets
- Benefit both users and sponsors
- Generate engagement through innovative approaches like gamification
- Contribute to Kalmar’s sustainable development
Jury and Prizes
The winning team will be selected by a distinguished jury and awarded a prize of 10,000 Swedish Kronor. Jury members include representatives from Destination Kalmar, Kalmar Science Park, Linnéuniversitetet, Kalmar Municipality, and Bontouch.
