Krakow Nativity Scenes Exhibition Extended at Kalmar Castle Due to Overwhelming Interest
The winter exhibition at Kalmar Castle has become a tremendous success, with visitor numbers doubling during December and January. As a result, the exhibition “Krakow’s Nativity Scenes – A Shimmering Winter Exhibition” will now be extended until March 16th.
A Unique Cultural Heritage
The exhibition features approximately thirty nativity scenes borrowed from Krakow’s museum. These unique craft creations have medieval origins and have been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2018.
“We are extremely happy about the warm reception the exhibition has received and the opportunity to showcase these very special nativity scenes at Kalmar Castle. I discovered Krakow’s nativity scenes about ten years ago and was fascinated by their detailed craftsmanship. Now we have the chance to borrow them a bit longer so even more people can see them,” says Meg Nömgård, Castle Director at Kalmar Castle.

Visitors have been particularly impressed by the intricate craftsmanship, with many expressing surprise at not having discovered these fairy-tale-like nativity scenes earlier.
