Chilling Ghost Tours in a Darkened Castle
As autumn descends upon Kalmar Castle, eerie occurrences begin to unfold within its 800-year-old walls. When the lights dim and darkness envelops the historic fortress, spectral figures from the past make their presence known. On October 18th, this year’s ghost tours will premiere, featuring several new and spine-tingling elements.
Kalmar Castle’s history stretches back centuries, marked by tales of treachery, torture, and executions. Visitors can join the Black Lady on a terrifying journey through the castle’s shadowy halls, where long-buried secrets lurk in the darkness.
New “Silenced and Buried” Tour
The 40-minute “Silenced and Buried” tour builds upon previous ghost walks but introduces fresh and frightening aspects. Guests will traverse dimly lit chambers, including areas typically closed to the public. The chilling autumn atmosphere combined with haunting historical accounts creates an unexpectedly terrifying experience. Due to its intensity, the recommended age limit is 12 years and up.
Johanna Algotsson, Event Manager at Kalmar Castle, explains:
“The ghost tours offer a unique way to experience Kalmar Castle. You’ll hear stories of both myths and real historical events while never knowing what might be lurking around the next corner. This year we’re presenting a new tour inspired by previous popular ghost walks. In addition to the adult tour, we’ll also offer an exciting walk for children during the autumn break.”
