Öland Prepares for Spring and Summer Tourism Season
As the Easter holiday approaches, Öland’s tourism industry is gearing up for the busier spring and summer seasons. The island’s visitor strategy, now over a year old, is built on the vision of “All of Öland – All Year Round”. This newsletter provides checklists and tips for businesses to prepare for the upcoming tourist season, while also highlighting recent successes of Öland’s companies.
Getting Ready for Increased Visitor Traffic
Tourism businesses are encouraged to take the following steps:
- Update opening hours on Google
- Refresh information on websites and social media
- Review and update business listings on oland.se
- List any upcoming events in the official events calendar
Hospitality Training Program
Öland’s tourism organization offers a service and hospitality training program for tourism industry workers. The program aims to ensure visitors feel welcome and well taken care of during their stay. This year brings some updates:
- Automatic diploma delivery upon course completion
- Updated information flyer with new QR code
- No need to re-register if signed up last year
Öland Partnership Program
The Öland Partnership Program allows businesses to invest in the island’s tourism development and marketing efforts. Recent new partners include Ölandsmagazinet, Tokenäs Camping, Borgholms Cityförening, and several others. Partnership benefits include increased visibility for Öland regionally and nationally.
Öland Businesses Receive Recognition
Several Öland businesses and individuals have recently received awards and recognition:
- Catrin Fägersten Sörensson of Saxnäs Camping named Entrepreneur of the Year by Swedish Camping
- Fastighetsbyrån på Öland ranked as the best office in the Fastighetsbyrå chain nationwide
- Hotel Borgholm placed 27th in Falstaff Magazine’s ranking of Sweden’s best restaurants
- Stora Alvaret and Byrums raukar listed among Sweden’s 17 most beautiful places by Vagabond travel magazine
