Öland Makes a Clear Statement – Moving Forward Together

On October 23rd, over 100 people gathered at VIDA Museum & Art Gallery to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Öland Partnership network. This network comprises more than 150 companies from various industries on and around the island, collectively investing in Öland’s future. Together with the destination company, the network ensures that Öland continues to attract visitors.

The event was organized by the destination company, along with partner companies VIDA Museum & Art Gallery, Halltorp’s Guesthouse, and several partners who provided local delicacies for the festivities. Partner companies were the first to learn that the destination company, formerly known as Ölands Besöksnäring AB, is now Öland & Co.

“Öland & Co represents our organization and our ambition to make Öland a leading destination. The heart of our business, ‘&Co’, stands for our partner members, whose significant contributions and commitment are central to achieving our common goals,” explains Johan Rustan, CEO of the company.

Rustan further elaborates on the significance of the new name and logo:

“The company’s new name and logo are not just symbols of cooperation, community, and future visions; they are also an invitation to an exciting journey where we build Öland together.”

    A New Symbol for Partnership

The company’s name change wasn’t the only news launched during the anniversary celebration. There has long been a desire from member companies to collectively use the Öland brand. Therefore, a new partner symbol was presented, incorporating graphic elements from Öland & Co’s own logo, complemented by the message “The Island of Sun and Winds”.

“We highlight ‘The Island of Sun and Winds’, which is more relevant now than ever. The two largest industries on Öland are the green industry and the tourism industry. The sun makes it possible for us to provide vital raw materials to Öland’s local population, part-time residents, visitors, and large parts of Sweden’s population. The wind has ground flour in the windmills here for hundreds of years, and today it gives us renewable energy. We are incredibly fortunate to have so much of this,” says Johan Rustan.

This new symbol allows partner members to strengthen their connection to the Öland brand and manifests their participation and commitment to the island.

    About Öland & Co

Öland & Co is responsible for driving the development of tourism-related issues for the entire island of Öland. The company plans, communicates, and develops Öland as an attractive destination for both national and international visitors. Their mission is to contribute to making Öland a great place to live and visit.
