Nature Tourism Investment in Jönköping Yields Results
Destination Jönköping continues to create favorable conditions for nature tourism operators. After two years of investment in nature tourism in Jönköping municipality, results are becoming visible. Local nature tourism entrepreneurs have begun networking, and several have packaged joint experiences. Interest in nature tourism is also growing among accommodation facilities, indicating an exciting development in the tourism industry.
Erik Johnson, destination developer at Destination Jönköping, states:
“Nature tourism companies play an important role in offering activities such as hiking, cycling, paddling, guiding, and outdoor cooking. These are experiences aimed at creating memorable moments for visitors. Although interest in outdoor activities is high, it’s not always easy to make a living as a nature tourism entrepreneur. Therefore, we at Destination Jönköping have organized workshops and meetings to support business development in the area. We also offer a joint trip to this year’s nature tourism conference on November 10-13, where hotels, hostels, campsites, and other accommodation facilities in the municipality are also invited.”
Forum for Nature Tourism
Last year, Destination Jönköping, along with several local nature tourism companies from the municipality, participated in the “Forum for Nature Tourism” conference on the High Coast. This year’s conference will be held at the Orsa Grönklitt ski and outdoor recreation facility.
Erik Johnson adds:
“As interest from our companies in the tourism industry has been high and continued development is needed, we have decided to offer a trip to this year’s conference as well. This initiative has gained attention from Nature Tourism Companies and is seen as a unique effort to promote nature tourism in Sweden.”
The conference has already attracted a record number of participants from across the country. The program includes lectures and networking opportunities with leading players in nature tourism. This year’s theme is “Trail Tourism and Guided Tours On and Off the Trails,” and participants will gain insights from Vasaloppet’s Lena Hermansson and other experts.
