Historic Jönköping Theater to Undergo Major Renovation in 2025
Jönköping’s Theater, a cultural landmark with 120 years of history, is set to receive a much-needed renovation from April 2025 to January 2026. The comprehensive restoration will preserve and enhance the theater’s unique character, focusing on both external and internal improvements.
Renovation Details
The renovation will include critical updates such as:
- Roof restoration
- Balcony repairs
- Window replacement
- Facade refinishing
- Ventilation improvements
- Interior painting
- Carpet replacement
- Service area renovations

Performance Alternatives
During the renovation period, the theater will be closed to performances. As an alternative, Destination Jönköping will focus on Jönköping Concert & Congress, which will host additional exciting performances to accommodate artists and audiences.
Renovation Timeline
The renovation is scheduled from April 2025 to January 2026, with the theater expected to reopen in February 2026. With the exception of performances already booked in April, the venue will remain closed throughout the restoration process.
