Meetings and Conferences Attract New Visitors to Jönköping
2024 is shaping up to be a record year for meetings and conferences in Jönköping, Sweden. The Family Center Conference, held on April 24-25 at Jönköping Concert & Congress, is one such event that brought new visitors to the city and showcased Jönköping as a highly appreciated conference destination.
Attracting First-Time Visitors
Conference attendees came from 16 different counties across Sweden, with 30% visiting Jönköping for the first time. Malin Asking, Project Manager for Meetings at Destination Jönköping, states:

A Competitive Conference City
The evaluation shows that 79% of attendees believe Jönköping compares very favorably to other conference cities they’ve visited. This high rating is attributed to the newly renovated Jönköping Concert & Congress and the new Science Park Towers.
Positive Experiences and Hospitality
Nearly all overnight attendees (99%) stayed in hotels, with 98% reporting that the hospitality met or exceeded their expectations. Johan Lind, Head of Tourism at Destination Jönköping, emphasizes the importance of good hospitality:
“Good hospitality is often crucial for how a place is perceived and whether you want to come back and experience more.”
Economic Impact and Visitor Satisfaction
The conference generated an estimated tourism economic impact of 4.9 million SEK. Attendees praised Jönköping, with comments such as:
“Love Jönköping, absolutely fantastic city. Nice and beautiful and just completely amazing.”
“Very good congress/facilities. Easy to get around by bus. Jönköping a nice city. One could imagine living here.”
These positive experiences are likely to encourage return visits and boost the local tourism industry.
