Promoting Women in Esports
The Swedish Esports Association is working to increase the representation of women in esports and promote equality both on and off the playing field. By offering a separate arena for female esports players, they aim to create an environment where women can develop, compete, and inspire without fear of discrimination or harassment.
Chris Jonasson, Secretary General of the Swedish Esports Association, stated:
“Nordic Women Championship is an initiative to build long-term and recurring competitions for the Nordic women’s national teams. In this way, we can not only create continuity for our national teams but also make our national team players visible and create role models for young practitioners.”
Venue and Streaming
The event will be held at Filmstaden in Jönköping, leveraging the cinema’s strengths of large screens, powerful sound systems, and inspiring environment. Leslie Marsden, Head of Sales at Filmstaden, commented on the collaboration:
“The cinemas’ strength is the big picture, powerful sound, and inspiring environment. Filmstaden has for a long time actively worked to show other content in our environment, and therefore this collaboration feels incredibly relevant and exciting. Esports and cinema have many points of contact, especially with the primary target group, which further strengthens the collaboration.”
This event marks a significant step forward in promoting women’s participation in esports and showcasing Jönköping as an inclusive and forward-thinking destination for major gaming events.
