“Hej Östersund and World Hello Day remind us of the power of a simple hello. It’s a day to show that small acts of kindness can change our surroundings,” says Mikael Jonsson, CEO of Destination Östersund.

He adds, “For tourism and place development, it’s all about human interactions. It’s crucial that we create an environment where everyone feels welcome. Through this initiative, we want to strengthen community and highlight Östersund as a place where hospitality and care are central.”

    The World’s Largest “HEJ!”

Last year’s greeting reached over 2 million people, and this year they aim even higher. The flashmob aims to send a message that Östersund is a city where being kind and saying hello is trendy.
