Halloween in Östersund City Expands to Two Days of Spooky Fun

One of the year’s most anticipated events, Halloween in City, is set to become even bigger and better in 2024. Destination Östersund has announced that the popular Halloween celebration will now span two days, taking place on October 31st and November 1st.

The city center will be transformed with hay bales, pumpkins, torches, monsters, and ghosts, offering a comprehensive program designed to attract Halloween enthusiasts of all ages to the downtown area.

“We are incredibly excited to once again host one of the year’s spookiest and most popular events. Visitors will encounter both scary sights and, more importantly, fun and exciting activities. Smithens Gård will be transformed into Diagon Alley with numerous happenings for our younger visitors, and the Harry Potter exhibition inside Tegelmagasinet is a must-see for all Harry Potter fans. We’re also looking forward to making the ghost parade even better, and this year the City Stage returns to Stortorget, making it easier for everyone to see the following fire show,”

says Calle Hedman from Destination Östersund.

    Highlights of the Two-Day Event

    Thursday Evening Activities:

    • Ghost parade for children at 6:00 PM from Mårtens Torg along Prästgatan to Stortorget
    • Fire show at Stortorget with Nordcirkus, around 6:30 PM
    • Underground Tourist Center with ghost stories told by the cellar man

    • Harry Potter exhibition inside Tegelmagasinet
    • Photo Point at Stjärntorget – compete for Halloween in City’s funniest and scariest outfit
    • Spooky quiz walk in the city

City stores will remain open until 8:00 PM on Thursday evening. For older visitors, there’s a Horror Night with scary movies at Biostaden, and rockbar Jane Doe will host a murder mystery event.
