September: A Culinary Month in Östersund
Östersund, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, invites both residents and visitors to a month-long celebration of culinary delights. This September, the city is hosting a variety of events that showcase both local and international flavors.
International Food Market
The festivities kick off on September 4th with the International Food Market at Stortorget Square. This year’s market is bigger than ever, featuring delicacies and food culture from over 23 nations across 40 food stalls.
Harvest Festival
On September 7-8, the Jämtland Härjedalen Harvest Festival opens its doors to visitors. Around 30 farms will welcome guests for farm-based activities and the opportunity to purchase local produce. New this year is a guided bus tour to selected farms, offered by MidScandinavia Tours.
Jämtlandsgången Food Walk
The popular Jämtlandsgången returns on September 7th. This food walk takes participants to five selected restaurants in central Östersund, focusing on locally produced gastronomy. Attendees will also have the chance to meet some of Jämtland’s breweries.
Brewery Tour
For beer enthusiasts, a Brewery Tour is scheduled for September 13-14. AktivUt organizes a guided tour by foot and train to Östersund breweries, Revsunds Brewery, and Bakgården.
Afternoon Tea
On September 13th, Hamngatan12 invites guests for an Afternoon Tea featuring freshly baked scones, canapés, and pastries.
Food Mile
The culinary experiences continue on September 21st with the Food Mile, a flavorful walk through Östersund where participants can sample selected delicacies from the city’s restaurants.
Eco Festival
The month concludes with the Eco Festival on September 26th at Stortorget Square, showcasing organic products and beverages.
