    Extraordinary Exhibition “Egyptian Mummies – A Journey to Immortality” Opens at Kalmar Castle

    Unique Historical Artifacts Set to Captivate Visitors

    Preparations are in full swing for this year’s seasonal exhibition at Kalmar Castle. Starting April 18th, “Egyptian Mummies – A Journey to Immortality” will showcase extraordinary artifacts from the Egyptian collection of the Florence Archaeological Museum, with some objects dating back 4,000 years and making their first-ever appearance in Sweden.

    Beyond Mystique: Understanding Ancient Egyptian Beliefs

    Mumification has long fascinated people, often portrayed in books and films with elements of mystery and horror. However, in reality, it reflected the ancient Egyptians’ profound belief that death was not an end, but the beginning of a journey to eternal life.

    Exhibition Highlights

    Visitors will discover fascinating details about:

    • Mummification techniques used in ancient Egypt
    • Burial artifacts and personal belongings prepared for the afterlife
    • Sarcophagi, busts, and burial masks
    • A mumified woman, child, and dog

    The exhibition will feature a total of 110 objects, each telling a story about the ancient Egyptian civilization.
