High School Students Create Social Media Content for Swedish Championships Week in Borås
Students from Bäckängs High School in Borås have been given an exciting assignment – to create social media content for the Winter Swedish Championships (SM-veckan) taking place from February 5-9.
Innovative Student Media Project
Through testing sports like wrestling, darts, fencing, and powerlifting with local associations, the students have produced creative video clips to be spread across social media platforms to generate buzz and engagement for the event.
Unique Youth-Driven Content Strategy
The project originated from the local SM-veckan project organization, who saw an opportunity to engage younger audiences by letting youth produce their own content. This approach also effectively showcases the diversity of sports during the championships.
“We wanted to reach the younger generation, and what could be better than actually letting them create the content? We are so glad they wanted to participate and we are impressed with the result,” says Sandra Sjulmark, local communications manager for SM-veckan.
Behind-the-Scenes Collaboration
During winter, students worked closely with participating sports associations, who visited the school’s media studio to instruct students about their respective sports. The collaboration was appreciated by all parties.
“The students have worked with great joy and energy in the project. It has been fantastic to see their creativity and commitment,” says Anders Högeryd, media and film teacher at Bäckängsgymnasiet.
Content Distribution and Participating Sports
The finished video clips will be published on Borås TME’s social media channels, primarily TikTok, starting in week 3. Participating sports associations included Borås Wrestling Club, Doris (darts), Borås AK (powerlifting and bench press), and Sandhult SK (fencing).
