Christmas Festivities Kick Off in Downtown Skövde
The holiday season is approaching, and Skövde is preparing for the most cozy time of the year with Christmas markets and downtown events.
Children’s Christmas Day
On the first advent, the focus will be on children with “Children’s Christmas in Town” at Duke Johan’s Square. Highlights include:
- Roasting marshmallows over a campfire with Billingen Skövde
- Selling Christmas wreaths and Christmas trees
- Watching Elimkyrkan’s Christmas nativity play
- Pony sulky rides
- Meeting Santa and leaving wish lists
- Petting alpacas
- Inauguration of Christmas calendar exhibition
Christmas Market
On Saturday, December 7th, the town square will be filled with vendors offering handmade candles, Christmas wreaths, and delicacies. Visitors can also purchase homemade goods from Skövde school classes. Schlätta burgers and Dutch Deli Delicius will be on-site for hungry guests.
Young Entrepreneurs Market
On Sunday, December 8th, UF companies from Skaraborg will sell their unique, creative Christmas gifts developed by local young entrepreneurs.
“Our hope is that many visitors will come downtown to experience the cozy Christmas atmosphere in Skövde,” says Katarina Blad, responsible for events and meetings at Next Skövde.
