Winter is Coming: Lund’s Enchanting Vinterlund Festival Promises Magical Experiences
Lund is gearing up for its annual Vinterlund festival, a heartwarming winter celebration that promises to illuminate the dark winter months with joy, community spirit, and festive activities.
Highlights of Vinterlund 2024
Traditional Christmas Tree Lighting
The festival kicks off on November 29th with the traditional Christmas tree lighting at Stortorget. Attendees can enjoy speeches by Gustav Olsson and enchanting music by Malena Laszlo, accompanied by Mathias Landæus on piano.
Christmas Market and Family Activities
On December 7th, the beloved Christmas market returns to Botulfsplatsen, featuring around 40 exhibitors offering everything from handicrafts to holiday flowers. Along Vintergatan, families can enjoy a wide range of activities, and children can meet Santa Claus and leave their wish lists.
New Initiatives for 2024
- Vinterlund Senior Day: A first-time event on December 6th, featuring an exclusive lecture, Christmas fashion show, and live music by Lund Big Band.
- New Year’s Eve Opera Concert: A special tribute to Giacomo Puccini, featuring young Swedish opera singers performing his immortal works.
- Wake Up with Vinterlund: A series of early morning lectures in January and February designed to brighten the winter darkness.
“Winter is truly a time when community and joy permeate Lund. With Vinterlund, we want to offer a chance to both embrace traditions and create new memories,” says Sebastian Jaktling, Chair of the Culture and Leisure Committee.
