Mark Isitt to Headline Urban Development Seminar in Skellefteå
On October 15th, Skellefteå will host an urban development seminar featuring Mark Isitt, renowned journalist, architecture critic, and host of TV4’s Grand Design Sverige, as one of the keynote speakers. The seminar aims to contribute to the positive development of Skellefteå’s city center, making it more vibrant, attractive, and inclusive for residents, visitors, and investors year-round.
As Skellefteå undergoes a major societal transformation, the city is also experiencing significant urban redevelopment, with densification and reconstruction of streets and squares. The seminar is part of the city’s efforts to apply for the “City Center of the Year 2026” award.
“We want to both inspire and challenge in the ongoing work with the development of the city center,” says Maria Broman, CEO of Visit Skellefteå.
The event is organized by Visit Skellefteå in collaboration with Nornan Invest and Arctic Design Center. Carola Fallgren, project manager for Arctic Design Center, emphasizes the importance of architecture and design in social development:
“We want to contribute in various contexts related to architecture and design. It is important that these issues have a clear place in social development,” says Fallgren.
