Meeting and Event Organizers Receive Diplomas from County Governor
Yesterday, the annual ambassador lunch took place at Örebro Castle. This esteemed event, which includes a diploma ceremony, is a way to thank meeting and event organizers who have contributed significantly to Örebro over the past year. The initiative is organized by Örebrokompaniet in collaboration with County Governor Lena Rådström Baastad.
“Our meeting and event organizers play a key role in Örebro’s development. By attracting conferences, large meetings, and various types of events, they not only contribute to our local economy but also strengthen Örebro’s position as a dynamic meeting place for knowledge exchange and innovation, and as a place where positive things happen,” says John Johansson, Chairman of the Municipal Board (S) Örebro Municipality, who participated in the lunch.
The ambassador lunch gathered nearly 100 local representatives from national and international meetings, congresses, and events held in Örebro during the past year. Leading representatives from Örebro Municipality, Region Örebro County, and Örebro University were also present.
Positive Effects from Multiple Perspectives
Pernilla Körberg Törnqvist, Head of Meetings and Events at Örebrokompaniet, explains, “This is our way of shining a spotlight on all those who, through hosting a meeting or organizing an event, contribute to making Örebro a stronger and more attractive place.”
Meetings and events are crucial for Örebro, as they contribute to significant effects both in the short and long term. The meetings highlighted this time have, for example, resulted in a turnover of around 125 million SEK, most of which has benefited the local business community.
While there are no comparable local figures for events, it’s clear that they have significantly contributed to the national values calculated by the Tourism Industry’s Research and Education Fund: in 2023, events in Sweden generated a turnover of 53 billion SEK and provided employment for 106,000 people.
