European Championships, Elite Sports, and Saber Fencing Elevate Lund to New Heights
The initiative “Heja Lund!” continues to spread joy in Lund, Sweden, by supporting three exciting events that will add an extra golden touch to the 2024 event calendar.
FEI Driving European Championship
The FEI Driving European Championship for youth in equestrian sport will take place from July 23-28 in Flyinge. This marks the first time Sweden hosts a European championship in sport driving for young athletes. Spectators will have the unique opportunity to witness impressive equestrian teams in action, right in Lund municipality.
Pilot Elite Event Weekend
On September 28-29, Lund will host the Pilot Elite Event Weekend. This event will showcase all sports clubs with established elite teams to the public in Lund and the wider region. The ambition is to create a new, talked-about event that demonstrates the unifying power and entertainment value of elite sports.
“Alfa Laval is keen to ensure that Lund is a vibrant city where our employees feel it is the best place to live, work, and develop knowledge. The commitment to ‘Heja Lund’ is a cornerstone in achieving this with its unique and cross-border, high-quality experiences that reflect the unique Lund spirit where business, academia, and the municipality act in strong collaboration,” says Jens Richter, Site Manager Lund, Alfa Laval and representative for the Heja Lund initiative.
Nordic Championships in Saber Fencing
The Nordic Championships in Saber Fencing will be held in Lund on October 19-20. Lugi Fencing Association aims to increase the quality of the competition and, in the long run, create a saber competition that attracts a larger number of fencers from Northern Europe. They also want to increase public interest in fencing through various activities in connection with the competition.
“It should be attractive to come to Lund regardless of where you are in life. We want to gather many people for broad exchanges of experience in contexts that arouse joy, commitment, and create faith in the future, pride, and community,” says Jens Richter.
The “Heja Lund!” initiative brings together business, university, and municipality to elevate Lund in various ways. The goal is to create a Lund that buzzes with attractive events, providing financial support to arrangements that contribute to making Lund an appealing destination.
