Exciting Updates from Billingen Skövde

Billingen, a beautiful area in Skövde, Sweden, has some exciting new developments and events to share. From new hiking trails to ice skating opportunities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season.

New Hiking Trail on Billingen’s Southern Slope

Skövde has added another hiking trail to its extensive network. The new Killingarundan trail, spanning 5 km, takes hikers around Heidelberg Materials’ active quarry, through older mining areas, and along the old railway embankment via Våmb. For those looking for a shorter walk, there’s a 2 km trail with information boards in Fårhagen, an older mining area. More information can be found here.

Public Ice Skating at Arena Billingen

Skövde Bandy has prepared the arena for the upcoming season. Public skating opens on Friday, with a girls’ under-16 home match against Villa Lidköping in the evening. Check the ice time schedule here.

Unique Bandy Event: Skaraborgsandan by Villa Lidköping

On November 15th, Villa Lidköping’s women’s and men’s teams will play “home matches” at Arena Billingen as part of a new three-year project. The club aims to promote bandy as a sport and strengthen connections within Skaraborg’s sports clubs, businesses, and municipalities. Find the full program here.

Season Pass Sales for Winter Activities

Season passes for downhill and cross-country skiing are now available at Arena Skövde. New this season: children and youth up to 18 years old can ski for free, extended from the previous age limit of 16. New Public Transport Timetable

Starting summer 2025, bus lines 8 and 9 from Resecentrum to Billingen will begin operating at 6:00 AM. Evening service will continue until 9:00 PM. In June, all city buses in Skövde will be electric, prompting discussions about allowing bicycles on buses. Skövde municipality is preparing to submit a formal application to the Västra Götaland Region’s infrastructure and public transport committee for funding a pilot project for bicycles on these two bus lines.
