Jönköping to Host Fair Play Cup Again from 2026-2028
The Småland-Blekinge Floorball Association has once again chosen Jönköping as the host city for the prestigious Fair Play Cup youth floorball tournament. The decision, made at the association’s May board meeting, extends Jönköping’s role as organizer for the years 2026-2028.
Helena Isaksson, responsible for the Fair Play Cup at Småland Blekinge IBF, expressed enthusiasm about the city’s potential:
“We see great development potential in the coming years in Jönköping. Several new sports halls are being built in the coming years, which provides good conditions for more teams to participate and gives a cup that is located within a good geographical area.”
Jönköping has been the host city for the Fair Play Cup for over 20 years, with the current agreement running until 2025. The decision to extend this partnership came after a spring inquiry from Småland-Blekinge IBF for the 2026-2028 contract period.
A Natural Home for Floorball Enthusiasts
Caroline Törnblad, head of meetings and events at Destination Jönköping, highlighted the city’s significance in the floorball community:
“Jönköping has become a natural place for floorball-loving youth and teams from large parts of the country. As an event city with a strong focus on youth events, we are especially pleased that Jönköping has once again been entrusted to continue managing and developing the cup.”
The successful bid was a joint effort between Jönköping Floorball Club (JIK), Destination Jönköping, and Jönköping Municipality. Lena Olaison, acting chairman of JIK, expressed pride in the renewed trust:
“That together with Småland-Blekinge IBF, Destination Jönköping and Jönköping Municipality, we have received renewed confidence in organizing the Fair Play Cup is a receipt that the hours that our enthusiasts, volunteer leaders and committed parents have put into the cup over many years give a fantastic result.”
Looking Ahead
With new sports facilities on the horizon and a proven track record of successful tournaments, Jönköping is poised to take the Fair Play Cup to new heights in the coming years. The city’s commitment to youth sports and its ability to host large-scale events make it an ideal location for this beloved floorball tournament.
